As part of the First International Architectural Biennial Beijing of the Hot Spots series had areas dedicated to young architects from nine cities chosen for the relation between the urban intensity of its urban and architectural culture production. Each hot spot was in charge of a guardian / local architect who also designed the exhibit and was invited to include their own work. Participating cities were Hong Kong, Ljubljana, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Mexico City, Moscow, New York, Rome and Tokyo.
